Sharon Cowden, M.D.
Dr. Cowden graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1971 and Chatham College in 1986. She completed her medical education at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated in 1990. Her pediatric residency was completed in 1993 at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr Cowden is currently practicing with Pittsburgh Pediatric Associates, an affiliate of The Western Pennsylvania Hospital. She joined the KidsVoice Board in 1999 and is on the marketing committee.

Paul C. Franklin
Assistant Treasurer Mr. Franklin is a life-long resident of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He holds a BS in Business/Economics from Penn State University graduating in 1963, and a MBA from the Prochnow Graduate School of Banking, University of Wisconsin. Mr.. Franklin joined Mellon Financial Corp. in 1963 as a trainee in the bank's Management Development Program. From 1965 until 1982 he held various management positions in the branch system of the retail bank. In 1982 he was appointed manager of the Pittsburgh office of Private Banking and was named head of Consumer Products two years later. In 1989, Paul was appointed First Vice President, head of the Business Services Group for the retail bank. In this capacity, Paul directed product management, marketing and advertising for the retail bank.In January of 1991, Paul returned to the sales side of the retail bank where he served 4 years as the Retail Bank Head of Mellon's 125 branch network for Western Pennsylvania. In 1995, Paul was asked to return to his current position, Sr. Vice President and Business Line Manager of Consumer Deposits & Loans for Mellon Financial Corp.

Mr. Franklin joined the KidsVoice Board in 1986, and has served in various capacities since that date.

Mark J. Murphy
Mark J. Murphy is the deputy executive director of the Disabilities Law Project and the managing attorney of its western Pennsylvania office. The Disabilities Law Project, with offices in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, is a non-profit, public interest law firm that has represented and advocated for persons with disabilities since 1977.

Mr. Murphy practices exclusively in the area of civil rights for persons with disabilities. He has represented clients in numerous cases involving a wide range of disability law issues, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, the rights of persons in institutions, employment discrimination, guardianship and consent, and architectural barriers.

Mr. Murphy also serves as the director of the National Fair Housing and Community Integration Legal Back-up Project, which provides technical assistance and litigation support on housing and community integration issues to attorneys throughout the United States, and as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. In addition, Mr. Murphy lectures frequently at continuing legal education seminars and has made many presentations to consumer, family, and advocacy groups on the legal rights of persons with disabilities.

Mr. Murphy received his B.A. degree and his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
